Kathmandu Kulung Community Building

Kathmandu Community Building

The project for building in Kathmandu for the use of Kulung Community was initiated by issuing an appeal on 3 July 2014 (2071-03-19).  In the beginning an initiation for purchasing land was made and NPR 1,887,833.00 was collected by the date of 6 October 2015 (2072-06-19) from 234 donors. In addition there were 16 peoples who committed to contribute NPR 884,055.

On 4 December 2017, 254.32 sq.mtr. (8 Aana) land was purchased at Suntakhan Baluwa, Ward No.3 of Gokarneshwor Municipality, Kathmandu. Besides the cost of land, there was an estimate of NPR 2 crore 69 lakh for 3 and half story building. So far i.e. till 30th August 2024 (2081-05-14) a total amount or NPR 2 crore 19 lakh has been invested.

Since the enough fund was not collected on time it took long time for completing the building. In addition COVID-19 also affected the work almost for a year and more. The project is still on going and the inflation has increased the estimated cost.

So all the community members working in and outside the country along-with the  philanthropists are requested to top up your contribution once more for completing the Kathmandu Kulung Community Building.

The building is being constructed by the Kulung Building Construction Committee led by Mr. Surya Mantherbu, Vice Chair of the Central Committee of Kirat Kulu Guskham who is, at present also the Chairman of Mahakulung Rural Municipality. Likewise Vice Chairperson is Mr. Bikendra Kiranti (Sankalpa) and Anita Tambuchha is Treasurer for the committee.
